fast forward to 2021 we are one year into a global pandemic with the entire world basically quarantined. USA is now at about 550,000 deaths in the last year due to the pandemic. I am working from home and trying to stay safe

Make sure to always wear a mask when outdoors and stay 6ft away!

Man I have been lagging as usual updating this thingy. You would think that as the family archivist & tech go to guy I would be regularly updating this database of family history but alas, I haven't. I plan to give you guys a thumbnail sketch of the happenings & going ons of the Guerrero family for the past few months.

1) We took Jake to Disneyland for his 8th bday.....fun as usual. We are all HUGE Disney fans so once again, we had such a good time.

2) Amy's Sister Dina and her man, OJ came to Los Angeles to visit us from Albuquerque. We took them to Venice beach, The Grove, Hollywood Blvd & LA Ink's tattoo studio.

3) I took Amy to her first concert.....TOOL at Epicenter 09.....It was the time of my life & she actually enjoyed it as well

Well I have not updated in nearly 5 months...so much has happened in the Guerrero Family universe. Here is a pictorial overview of the last few months:

First of all, David turned 1. We were in the process of moving at the time (more on that later in the post) so he had a modest lil birthday:

A few weeks later we went to California Adventure w/ Amy's fave cuz'ns, Erica, Bobby & lil Bob to celebrarte Sara's 3rd Birthday:

Sara had a blast & we all enjoyed a wonderful day at Disneyland's sister park.

A month or so later came my birthday. The family headed out to San Juan Capistrano for a weekend road trip. We booked a couple nights at the Doubletree in Orange County.

The Mission was absolutely beautiful. Probably the nicest Catholic landmark an old ex-altar boy like me has ever seen. The city is the site of California's oldest residential neighborhood, Los Rios. It is also the home of the oldest in use building in California, the Serra Chapel in the Mission. The area was the site of both the first vineyard and first winery in California. So much California history here.

The trip was finally completed when we stopped for lunch at our favorite OC Mexican restaurant, El Cholo:

April brought Easter Sunday, a very interesting celebration for such a secularist, agnostic family as ours. I do not know if we are actually paying homage to the Jesus Christ ressurection myth or to the older pagan celebration marking the Vernal (Spring) Equinox. Most likely the latter, but anywho, it is always a good excuse to gather with loved ones & have a good time with our extended family.

Yo Gabba Gabba's DJ Lance Rock was going to be performing at the LA Times Festival Of Books & being that Sara & David are HUGE fans of the show, we packed the van & headed out ot UCLA to be in attendance when they hit the stage. The campus was sweet as was the weather. The kids danced to every song (even Jake got into it!) & we all enjoyed the festival. Especially a bookworm like me, being surrounded by books & droves of people that acutally still read was awesome.

That pretty much catches us up with the highlights of the past couple months. Oh yeah, I forgot what is most likely the biggest development since our last post. We MOVED! We got out of our modest apartment in North Hills & moved to a modest house in Panorama City. Never had a backyard before, never had a front yard before. Always lived in a concrete jungle. Now we have a garage, plenty of parking, we even have a garden! David & Sara love playing in the yard (Jake is still stuck in the house staring at a video screen)

We love our lil house......tomorrow is Jacob's 8th birthday, we are going to Disneyland......pics to follow.

Disneyland 2009

We took the kids to Disneyland last weekend & since we went in at about 3pm we finally got to experience the park at night. It was beautiful. Here are a few pics of us on the rockets in Tomorrowland:

We did our usual thing, hitting ride after ride. The only speedbump we hit was when Jacob started crying from fear of the Pirates of the Carribean ride.....can you believe that! Here is a nice capture of Sara enjoying the Teacup ride in Fantasyland:

Great fun....we are going back to California Adventure in a couple of weeks & will post pics.......

Christmas Christmas Christmas.......were do I begin. 2008 was quite possibly the best Christmas I ever experienced. With David here & old enough to grasp the concept of the ritual we all cherish, the holidays were more poignant then ever. The Pic below shows our living room 2 minutes after the gift opening began:

The kids had a blast ripping thru the gifts Santa was kind enough to deliver:

Sara got a Barbie Jeep:

Jake got a Wii:

& David got various electronic toys to keep him occupied:

Dad got an Xbox 360 from mom & mom got a wool coat & an iPod from dad......
needless to say, everyone was happy....

We then went to Amy's parents for dinner.

Christmas was extra sweet this year for me because our family is finally complete now that we have our 3rd & final child David Anthony w us. Not only that, David totally understood what was happening & was excited to open his gifts & play w his toys. Jacob & Sara were super anxious to see what Santa had brought them & Sara was overwhelmed with all the toys she received. Nothing thrills a parent more than to see their child delighted on Christmas morning. That magic feeling quite fleeting & quite rare is what makes the mundanity of everyday life all worth the effort. We all need a reward for the tediousness of this rat race we call life, to me Christmas is that reward........

Christmas Is Coming!!!

Christmas is always a big deal (if not thee biggest deal) in our house......it is the time of the year when Amy & I lavish our kids with conspicious consumer items. We also make Tamales & Amy bakes her awesome Pumpkin bread.....Ah, how life is so beautiful when the rituals we covet are in full swing.... I know that christians designate Christmas as the celebration of the birth of Christ.....People that know, understand that Christmas predates christianity & has pagan roots based on the Winter Solstice....anyway here is a pic of our tree (which Happens to be David's first tree!):

I know there are too many crimson ornaments bunched together on the lower right but hey my brats chose too place those there!

Here is a couple more pics to show off our Holiday spirit:

The ornament pictured below was given to me & Amy by my cousin George & his wife 8+ years ago & remains one of our most cherished decorations......it always gets a prominent place on the ornament pecking order usually near the top center of our tree every year..

Well it is 2 weeks to Christmas & the Guerrero family wish all you secularists & christians alike a very wonderful holiday & a prosperous & bountiful New Year as well!!!
